What did it see when it looked at me?

            No one who was taken from this box has come back.   I didn’t know, or perhaps I didn’t want to know, how it was that I found myself here.   It was dark, so dark that I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.   Periodically, a blinding light would shine from above and when it finally receded, those who were left would breathe a sigh of relief.   Originally there were twenty of us.   Our names didn’t really matter; just the fact that we were not alone was enough to calm most of us down.   We’ve searched the walls by feeling the perimeter and have not been able to find an exit.   I had felt my way to a corner, thinking that whoever or whatever has been removing the others would be less likely to find me if I was huddled away in a corner.   I sat down to try and think when the bright light erupted from above again.           ...

Bad Memories

Have you ever experienced something you wish you could forget?   I feel that at some point we all wish we could make the rough patches of life fade away.  I wrote this after considering this idea, "what if we could make ourselves forget?"  Timothy had a rough day and these events lead him to accept the almost too good to be true offer that would allow him to use these bad memories to catch those responsible for causing them and as payment, allow the memories to be suppressed .   Unfortunately (and of course) there would be repercussions to recalling and eventually suppressing them, especially when we accept that even the bad things that happen make up the tapestry of our lives. ++++++++                   Timothy Jackman had a rough day, but at least it was over.   He could feel the stress leaving his body as the shower’s warm deluge beat on the back of his head; the wa...
